Do you agree the National Historical Institute should continue with its plan to sue Arnel Pineda for singing the Philippine National Anthem too slow instead of its march-like tempo, and for belting out the end of the song with high notes, and if convicted, Arnel will pay a huge amount of money and may even be imprisoned?
Arnel sang "Lupang Hinirang" (Beloved Land) during Manny Pacquiao’s successful bout against Joshua Clottey of Ghana on Saturday (Sunday in Manila), his powerful, high-pitched voice filling the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
According to wikipedia, there are several versions(lyrics) of the song and only the latest and current Filipino version is recognized by the law. If the lyrics was change maybe to suit the meaning to our current taste why do the NHI insist on singing it in its PRE-WAR tune. The artists like Arnel Pineda, Martin Nivera and the others tried to sing it from the heart, full of patriotism and love for the country. I Think they do not want to sing it in a BATTLE-STANCE tune ready to go to war.
